The *arms race is on*. And it didn't take long for _internet casino_ and somesuch to catch on to my new blog. Assholes. And because I don't want to spend my whole day moderating comments, here's what I did:
* installed the "Autoclose comments after XX days plugin":http://wiki.wordpress.org/?pagename=Auto%20shutoff%20comments
* installed the "Reject comments from blacklisted ip adresses plugin":http://charles.gagalac.us/wordpress-plugins/ip-blocklist/
* lowered link threshold to "2" and blacklisted some words "as this page suggests":http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/spam/#one
Interestingly, "tamba2 or whatever their name is":http://www.tamba2.org.uk/T2/ also has assembled a "long list of plugins to tackle spam":http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/spam/#two, but it's actually *too long*. I won't be bothered to go through them all to find which one that suits me. Suggestions appreciated, but let's just see how my current attempts play out.
As for the spammers. I think they're maybe from outer space trying to wreck the internet. And then they can point and say: "what a feeble civilization". Or something.
_Update:_ Disappointlingly, Wordpress' internal comment options *don't seem to have any effect*. I can still comment with links to casinos. Urrgh.
